Have I mentioned to you that we now live on the fourth floor of our building? It makes for really fabulous views. Amazingly, it doesn't feel like that much of a trek. I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again: It's really incredible what you adapt to once you're in an environment for awhile.
If you had told me as an 8th grader at cheerleading camp that I would live on the 4th floor of a building with no elevator, I'm sure I would have scoffed. You see, back in the day (back. in. the. day.), I had to go to torture camp -- I mean -- cheerleading camp at Tennessee Tech University. And they clearly had the most horrific dorms imaginable. (Which is why Union is so wonderful --possibly the best dorm situation ever-- and it's only getting better). I won't go into all the despicable details of what made the TTU dorms so horrific, but one detail I must include is that it seemed like we were always on the fourth floor. The thought that I would one day willingly live on the fourth floor of a building was simply unimaginable.
Furthermore, we now live in a neighborhood north of the city center. To most of you, this communicates very little. Let me explain. Edinburgh is located on the Firth of Forth, which is a large bay extending into the ocean on the north side of the city. The Edinburgh Castle is the pinnacle of the area and New College (where Matthew is a student) is located directly beside the castle. The castle is high above sea level while we are much closer to the sea level. Which means, there is a steep climb to castle area from where we reside.
25 minute walk on a steep incline to City Centre + 4th floor flat several times a day = Legs of Steel.
Well .....
That might be wishful thining. But still, some good ole' cardio does the body good.
So how about some pictures of your fab views from the new flat?
